Google Controversies – Few News Making Events

Google is the one name on the web known for making news for reasons of its own. Be it acquisitions, Privacy policies, Innovations, Fights for Copyrights and so on. Following are the glimpses of few controversies that Google is known for.
Google Book Search – Copyright Controversy A project called Google book search was in news since its launch. Initially for being good, as Google itself is known and later it’s criticized. It’s believed to be a threat to copyrights. As there is a higher chance of copyright breach. Few other copyright controversies, which Google has been a part of, can be found here. What can be added to this is Google mail no deletion policy, a really fatal one. This could be used to track what you did, since the day one with Google.
Media Disputes The Major one was with Agence France-Presse (AFP), when AFP sued Google for $17.5 million, alleging that Google News infringed on its copyright because, "Google includes AFP's photos, stories and news headlines on Google News without permission from Agence France-Presse". It was also alleged that Google ignored a cease and desist order, though Google counters that it has opt-out procedures which AFP could have followed but did not. Though there are a lot of copyright free images on Google. Still there was a lawsuit involving adult online site Perfect 10; a U.S. District Court Judge ruled that Google's image search had violated the law by copying, without permission, photographs created by Perfect 10. (See, this adult content attracts every one, even Google. What a fun!! )
Google China Dispute-Search the Chinese way This one isn’t quite a controversy though. It’s argued that Google should not adhere to the Chinese Internet Censorship policy. Which means Google search results should not display anything that relates to Tiananmen Square protests of 1989.Its crazy though. Now, this is something that people do not expect Google to adhere to. As it’s like hiding the reality.
Google Page Rank System – Cool Criticism. I know, for sure, that Google must have done a lot of hard work to develop its central Page Rank System. Its argued that PageRank is biased towards large websites and a pages importance is not related to the page views. Most of the page rank is based on Google algorithms, which I think, can’t be biased. However there are things like Ad words and other advertising works that are done manually, may have raised a concern. Along with this there are fraud sites, those techies and hackies keep on creating to befool this system.
The Big One- You Tube Super Controversies You tube has been such a crazy thing on the web since it started. It took video business by a stride Came, People Saw and I Conquered that’s how I put it for You tube. You tube has been in news for showing videos of great people. It didn’t spare even religions. Politicians had the worst of it and they still are having. Alongside look at the following Terms and Conditions:

"By submitting the User Submissions to You Tube, you hereby grant You Tube a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicense able and transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display, and perform the User Submissions in connection with the You Tube Website and You Tube’s (and its successor's) business in any media formats and through any media channels."

Though it is something you are not bound to agree to.However,If you like videos and things about videos on youtube, you have no options.

DoubleClick Controversy Mr. Conroversial, may we call Google; just goes on. Recently Google went on with DoubleClick to make the headlines. People say, they have been gathering information without any agreement. What they do is that ,they track the websites you visit, with the help of cookies you get from DoubleClick. Which is obviously unacceptable!!!
